Global to Local; Cousteau to Connect Critical Water Issues in Great Lakes, Gulf Region

From global to local, Philippe Cousteau continues his family’s legacy of protecting water and inspiring others. Through his work at EarthEcho International, a non-profit environmental education and conservation organization, Cousteau teaches students and adults the importance of the planet’s most precious resource – water.

Did you know that nearly 1,000,000 gallons of oil were spilled into the the Kalamazoo River in Michigan? Though roughly one-fifth of the amount leaked into the Gulf Coast, this event caused over a hundred households to avoid drinking their water and even evacuate their homes.

Water quality issues and shortages are becoming increasingly important, and are beginning to impact us directly. Philippe Cousteau will extend that connection by detailing his focus on critical water issues from water access and runoff pollution to factory fishing, bottled water and the future of our water.
